CAP Tex Hill July Challenge Series-#1 Photos in Flight

June 25, 2020

CAP Tex Hill July Challenge Series

#1 (of 4)- JULY 7

Photos in Flight

  • Team members take photos of anything that flies or glides and name what causes the lift or thrust. (Help each other out if you're fuzzy on lift/thrust.)

  • Team members must show their designated Team Collector (through any technological means) each photo and explain lift/thrust.

  • Team Collector keeps record of all submissions on a page with name, subject, lift/thrust info. (Be ready to announce June 30 how many pics your team has so far...no details.)

  • Subject must be in flight, about to fly or recently landed. No pics of pics or replicas that don't actually fly.

  • No repeats of subjects for individual members. (i.e. only one pic of a fly per team member)

  • Think outside the box; many things fly/glide! If you think of something unusual, share it with the rest of your team so they can try to photograph it too.

  • The subjects you find must be in person. You may not find stuff on the internet or TV and send that in. You must actually witness these flights and snap their pictures.

You should have received an email assigning you to a team.

*Team Collector presents his/her summary (with details) on July 7 at online meeting. (Also be prepared to give us an update on # of pics on June 30.)

*Team with most approved photos collected wins. Be sure to attend as there might be some discussion leading to some thumbs up/thumbs down voting!

*Points won go 1-3 (i.e. first place gets one point, second place gets two points...). Lowest score at end of month WINS the SERIES PRIZE.

*Prize is an exclusive PIZZA party prior to an upcoming CAP meeting!

*Winning team chooses next challenge. CAN BE ANYTHING CAP RELATED. Must be announced July 7! Be talking seriously with your fellow teammates about what challenge you'd choose.

*Use this time to bond with your teammates. You were put on these teams to get to know each other better. If you need challenge ideas or help brainstorming, give me a call.

All of you should make an effort to communicate with EVERYONE on your team. Trade phone numbers and/or emails. Make a band chatroom just for your team. Find some way that works for ALL of you and then challenge each other to do better as a team than you could do on your own. First item of business is choose a Collector who will compile all the team's data throughout the challenge and present it on July 7. As a help to your Collector, please don't dump all your pics on him/her on the last day! Spread them out. Also keep in mind that each challenge will probably necessitate some type of an organizer. Be sure to change this up each challenge. (Janicki, Urquiola and Hawkins- please get the ball rolling for your teams.)

Let's finish our forced quarantine strong by working hard at these challenges, getting to know each other better, and encouraging/helping each other to promote and complete courses. There are 24 team members on this challenge series; let's see if we can get 10 promotions from this group in July!!!
