Former Cadet Recounts Lessons Learned

January 7, 2020

Cody Beyer was a C/2dLt before he left our squadron to join the USAF in December of 2018. He was the guest speaker to a packed house of cadets and senior members at our squadron meeting on 7 Jan 2020. Cody reflected on his transition to the USAF and shared a list of things he benefited from in CAP and a list of things he wished he should have done.

Things I Benefited From
•    Becoming aircrew qualified (18+)
•    SAR Training/Aerospace Education
•    Learning how to use a map/compass
•    Teamwork/Leadership skills
•    Mitchell Award (A1C)
•    Military drill and Environment
•    Familiarization with Aircraft
•    The People

Things I Should’ve Done
•    Taken Radio Classes to get familiar with radios
•    Flight Line Marshalling
•    Used all my O-Rides (only 3 out of 5)
•    Powered/Unpowered Flight Academies
•    Taken RPA classes/Getting RPA Qualified
•    Backseat Rides

We appreciate Cody sharing these gems with the squadron members and thank him for his service to our country.
