Throwback Thursday with Lt Col Ron Diana
Welcome to our second installment of our Throwback Thursday feature. Today we have our previous squadron commander Lt Col Ron Diana in a picture from November 1977. This is 2LT Ron Diana at the Infantry Officers Basic Course at Fort Benning Georgia. Ron enlisted in the Army National Guard in Feb 1971. He went to Basic Training at FT Dix NJ and Advance Individual Training at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. He rejoined his unit and the next year he went to the Noncommissioned Officers academy and was promoted to Sergeant at 19 years old. In 1976 he attended Officers Candidate School and graduated in June of 1977.

Ron was stationed at Mannheim, Germany from mid-1982 until mid-1985 where he was an assistant staff officer, Battalion Maintenance Officer and Company Commander. In Sept 1988 Ron joined the WA National Guard as a Battalion Assistant S3 (Operations) Officer. Ron retired with the rank of Colonel in 2007. He also had some duty in and out of Afghanistan from 2010 to 2014 as a Department Of the Army Civilian.
Ron achieved his Private Pilot Certificate in 2006, Instrument rating in 2010, Multi-engine rating in 2012, Multi-engine Commercial Certificate in 2015, Single engine Commercial in 2015, Multi-Engine Instructor in 2018, and Certified clight Instructor (CFI) in 2019.
