Waivers Issued During COVID-19 Crisis
Three important waiver documents have been issue by the CAP Commander, Maj Gen Mark Smith. These waivers waive requirements or extend qualifications during the national emergency. The documents are described and linked below and the note from Maj Gen Mark Smith follows.
Waiver Letter – CAPR 50-17, CAP Senior Member Professional Development Program
1. Overview. In an attempt to allow our senior member officers and NCOs to participate in CAP’s Professional Development program and progress in their education and training during the Coronavirus emergency, the following accommodations are made to the in-residence (face-to-face) requirements within the PD program effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice.
Coronavirus COVID-19 Operations Qualifications Extensions
1. Due to the growing concerns of potential exposure to COVID-19 and the limitations associated with public gatherings, I have advised CAP/DO to extend qualifications that will expire before normal operations resume.
Waiver Letter – CAPR 60-1, Cadet Program Management
Achievement 1 Uniform Requirement. Ordinarily, cadets must possess a CAP uniform and wear it properly to earn Achievement 1, the Curry (CAPR 60-1, 5.2.3). That requirement is hereby waived, immediately, for the duration of the COVID-19 emergency.
Command Council,
The National Staff is continually reviewing CAP guidance to determine if we need to waive requirements or extend qualifications during the national emergency. Attached are three of those that I approved this week. Please let the OPRs know if you have any questions.
We will all get through these challenging times by working together as one team. Thank you for your dedication and leadership.
